Inclusive classroom management: promoting cultural diversity and tolerance

PRESENTATION:

The “Inclusive Classroom Management” course is designed for schools with a high number of students with special needs and aims to develop strategies for the inclusion and academic success of all students. It is intended for mainstream teachers who need to acquire knowledge of methodologies, materials, and tools for creating individualized curricula. Additionally, it is suitable for special education teachers and staff members who wish to enhance the organizational, instructional, and networking structure of educational institutions to provide inclusive and high-quality education.

Duration: 5 days (Monday to Friday) or 6 days (Monday to Saturday)

Additional activities:

• Guided tour on Wednesday afternoon;
• (optional, on Saturday) Daily excursion in Rome.

• Key interventions to support dialogue and inclusion.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

• Understand various types of disabilities and other disadvantages;
• Increased knowledge of various disabilities;
• Improved methodological skills related to individualized teaching, multiple intelligences, and emotional intelligence;
• Enhanced methodological skills related to alternative communication tools;
• Redesign teaching to meet individual student needs;
• Initiate dialogue projects such as debates, promoting respect and tolerance, and fostering trust in institutions.

• Autism Spectrum Disorders;
• Gardner and Multiple Intelligences.

• Gain insights into autism spectrum disorders;
• Explore Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences.

DAY 3:

Specific Contents:

• Methodologies for developing self-awareness and self-determination;
• Strategies to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers, promoting respect;
• Recognizing Specific Learning Disabilities.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

• Develop methods to enhance self-awareness and self-determination;
• Learn strategies to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers while promoting respect;
• Identify Specific Learning Disabilities.

DAY 4:

Specific Contents:

• Tools for creating suitable curricula in classrooms with a high incidence of BES (Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Difficulties);
• Intercultural classroom: Tools for creating appropriate curricula for both native and non-native students.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

• Acquire tools for developing tailored curricula in classrooms with a high incidence of BES;
• Explore techniques for creating appropriate curricula for both native and non-native students.

DAY 5:

Specific Contents:

• Recap of key course concepts and learning outcomes.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

• Review and reinforce understanding of course content and learning outcomes.
