DESCRIZIONE:

LORENZO GABRIELE – HISTORICAL FLUTES

Lorenzo Gabriele was born in Rome with a strong passion for all kinds of musical expression. He begun very early playing the recorder and then taking the first flute lessons.
Once he achieved the Bachelor degree as a modern flute player, he started working for different groups, orchestras and theaters in Italy, ranging from classical to jazz, from folk to stage music. At the same time he revealed a deep elective affinity with the so called “early music” or HIP, so he decided to fully devote himself to learning period flutes and historical performance practice.
Lorenzo studied baroque, classical and romantic flute at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) in Frankfurt am Main, where he graduated with a Master’s degree in historical interpretation, studying baroque and classical traverso with Prof. Karl Kaiser (Freiburger Barockorchester, Camerata Köln, La Stagione Frankfurt), and taking the highest final grade and a honorable mention. Furthermore he was selected for the prestigious „Konzertexamen“ (post-graduate degree), that he achieved in 2021 with a double recital at the HfMDK. He has also participated over the years in masterclasses with Marco Brolli, Marcello Gatti, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Jed Wentz and Marc Hantai, among others.
He won the first prize at the 8th International Telemann-Competition in 2015 and many other awards with different ensembles at numerous international chamber music competitions. He also collaborates with many ensembles and orchestras playing concerts and recording music.
Highly enthusiastic about chamber music, he is former founder of Il Quadro Animato (2013 – 2020) and co-creator and director of La Tabatière “un petit orchestre historique”.
From 2015 he dedicates himself to modern editions of rediscovered pieces from the baroque and classical period.
